Swan Drafting Cycle Club was established in 2016 in a suburban shed post football season where the thought come over a couple of burly gents, “Have you ever thought about jumping on a bike, could help us keep fit for footy?”

From there, like an organism it grew, sporadically and initially very slowly (just like most of our rides) with some tough times. 12 months of a 2 x man river loop's in search of a bunchie or club to join - which more often than not, never eventuated. Perth can get pretty tricky finding the right time, place and people to ride with. So, it started from there where thoughts, of bugga it lets start our own club and bunch ride. After a lot of slow river loops, often ending close to lunch time and beer’o' clock, word got round and all of a sudden the bunch grew steadily.

 

It took several years, but in Spring of 2019, something happened and the Swan bunchie exploded! Through only word of mouth, it has become one of the most popular and definitely the most left of field cycling club's in Perth. We're often called more of a ‘Footy Club on Wheels’ as we have that feeling ingrained in us. We are not just a cycling club, we are a community, a family, and we look after each other. We are proud now to have well over 100 members, elite riders, old and young, male and female, safe and awesome bunch rides that occur 3 x times a week and by far the best Christmas Party (that never happens at Xmas time) in Perth.

Swan Drafting is proud of our inclusivity and safe space which has seen the Club have a huge representation by the girls who ride with us. Elite Swans female teams feature at Aus Cycling National Races on road, Gravel and Cyclocross with national champs among the club held by many of the girls.

Swans have managed to sponsor for the second year running Zoe Davidson, aka “Davros” to help get to as many races as she can nationally which has seen many Green and Gold National champ jerseys come her way.

All revenue raised by the club is put directly back into the club and Zoe is an example of that
